kadray® comes from the word ‘cadre’, a noun that means ‘a small group of people specially trained for a particular purpose of profession’. Precisely who kadray® is designed for. And by the way, it is pronounced CAR-dray despite the way we have decided to spell kadray®.

In addition to the rich capability available to users through the client UI, kadray® provides an Application Programming Interface (API) comprised of a range of services that allow authorised external systems to operate directly against kadray® data.  This creates opportunities for other products such as HR systems, asset management software or enterprise middleware platforms to integrate with kadray® for a seamless, cross-product business workflow.

kadray® API are stateless, RESTful services. This is a common way of working that means each side doesn’t have to remember the state of every transaction. Each transaction is independent, which is good for clarity in communications

  • Every transaction then becomes a unique activity,
    • Remote systems can then get info from the API using the GET function,
    • Or they can add new data using the POST function, or
    • Or they can update existing pieces of information using the PATCH function
  • Access to the API is secured through API keys, which can be generated within the SmartBase® Administration screen. This will be a shared key so that the link is encrypted end to end, and is only for their connection.
